The Practice Framework

An alternative
treatment model.

A holistic model of psychotherapy rooted in clinical training as an integrative-transpersonal psychotherapist.

An alchemical process that guides and tracks your inner world for deep psychological growth and repair, within the safety of a therapeutic container.

The Frame

Father · Structure · Yang

The fixed elements of the therapeutic relationship — time, place, fee and contractual terms. This creates important boundaries, engages you at an unconscious level and supports a sense of safety through the immovable.

The Container

Mother · Safety · Yin

A more dynamic energetic field — active and process-oriented — a nurturing space holds you through non-judgement, presence and unconditional positive regard. When the frame and container are in place, the work can begin.

The Five Stages

A journey, not a procedure.

Stage I · Six sessions

Assessment — Understanding the Clay

Six sessions to uncover and get a full picture of your situation — individual difficulties, the larger ecosystem of your life. Tools include clinical assessment, exploratory work, dowsing to understand conscious, unconscious and higher-self influence, feedback, and a closing review session to re-assess how things feel.

Stage II · As long as it takes

Clearing the Ground

Looking at the life situation — clearing away distractions and what does not serve. Feeling ready for a deeper therapeutic process.

Stage III · Daily practice begins

Creating the Circle

Creating sacred space for the work. Developing a daily practice, letting it take root. Building a place of stillness inside the everyday — a place we can return to.

Stage IV · Hero's journey

Vision Quest — the Deep Dive

Fasting, nature immersion, the hero's journey of separation, initiation and return. The work goes underground for a time and comes back changed.

Stage V · Ongoing

Integration — Returning to Life

Creating the structure: daily routine, trusting the path, acting on the vision — the true-north experience. Bringing what has been seen into the shape of an actual life.

Three lenses

Integrative means looking through more than one window.

Psychodynamic

Brings the objectivity and distance required to see clearly. We do this through the formality of sessions, a contract setting out important boundaries and the weekly rhythm of our work. As a lens it refers to your early life development and what you might have internalised — how you view yourself and relate to others based on that experience.

Humanistic

Brings us into what is happening in the relationship between us — how I experience you, how it feels to sit with you, and what that might tell us about how others meet you in your life. It also looks at self-image as this often determines how capable we feel about fulfilling our goals and potential.

Transpersonal

Refers to the bigger idea of who we are — our true potential beyond the fears, insecurities and limited view of ourselves we consciously identify with. There are depths to us, and answers may live in something bigger, wiser and more powerful — grounded always in the sometimes difficult reality of the here and now.

Therapeutic energy

Companions to the work.

Beyond the therapeutic conversation, we may also work with flower essences and divinatory practices to uncover the less-conscious factors at play in your situation.

  • Flower Essences
Bach remedies & Australian Bush flower system — potent metaphors for psychological states.
  • Runes
A compass to help navigate the experiences we all face.
  • I Ching
Ancient book of life — a quiet, considered counsel.
  • Tarot
Symbolic mirror for the unconscious factors at play.
  • Mycology
The kingdom of fungi — teachers of decomposition, communion and rebirth.
  • Power Animals & Natural Symbols
Allies, teachers, healers met in the imagination and the outer world.
